A lot of personal sacrifice, protests in the streets, political activism, hippie set ins, investigations, scientific research, books, lectures, ( back in the day when individual copy rights were respected and protected) that were inspired by the spirit and methodology of Rachel Carson and Silent Spring and Karen Silkwoods struggle and ultimate sacrifice eventually led to a another turning point in the protection of the world's natural environment, the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency in America, by the Nixon Administration in 1970.
The creation of the (EPA) and more importantly a new cabinet position in the white house dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment were milestones and turning points for the entire worlds point of view and attitude towards our survival on Earth. The Endangered Species Act and Clean Air and Water Acts followed in 1973 -1974.
From the 1969 Summer of Love until the slacker generations of the 80's and the introduction of crack and meth and three generations of ghetto trash and coca/pot cartel programmed kids to become " cop, US Military, and America haters," things were looking " up," and slowly improving for our stewardship of " the home planet."
Even the Pentagon and the Dept. of Defense accused as being the world's biggest and dirtiest polluters began to acknowledge mistakes and clean up there procurement, storage, and deployment of some of the most toxic substances known to mankind. Most people never took the time to recognize and acknowledge this amazing accomplishment on the part of caring citizens, scientists, academics, politicians and believe it or not some Admirals and Generals at the Pentagon.
The election of George Bush Jr. was a turning DOWN point in American Environmentalism, the dumbing down of our society and children and the introduction of mean and selfish spirit in our country.
The man who mockingly called himself " the environmental president," at a deceptively choreographed press conference at Soquia National Park and then systematically directed his staff of former anti environmental corporate lobbyist and attorney's and the EPA to find every loop hole in, and gut and recast environmental policy. Bush Jr. had every attorney, staffer who was sympathetic to the environmental movement reassigned or fired. His staff then cast new official guidelines, directives and executive orders, to undermine and gut fifty years of progressive environmental litigation and legislation, that cost the American People billions of dollars to put in place.
No wonder Mr. Bush Jr. is considered by many political scholars to be " the worst president America has ever elected." and " the least intelligent of all American Presidents."
It is hard for anyone born after 1980 to fully comprehend the importance of and the damage done by Bush Jrs. actions on both sides of environmentalism.
Now that the ghetto trash rappers have taken over Hollywood and Nashville, and the coca/pot cartel has a death grip on Sacramento and Washington DC, our childrens role models are "gangsters," and " drug dealers," who have re packaged themselves as " the world party of ethnic equality," witches total crap. This is Crime Inc. plan and simple.
Unfortunately today the Coca/Pot Cartel funded rap music industry has programmed the youth of America to hate the police and consider anyone who gets in the way of the " drug/ porno/ prostitution/ hacker/ bribery/ blackmail party in NorCal to be considered a " rat," " a leak," to be sabotated, hacked and poisoned in Santa Cruz California, at various food venues like Lulu Carpenters and Emily's Bakery by UCSC students working in food service.
The mexican mafia financed by the coca/pot cartel are busy bankrupting the school system, the medical system and ruining the criminal justice system in California today. See schatemongers.com.
Today all this progressive, protective legislation and governmental policy is being actively undermined in California and the USA. Decade number two of the twenty-first century is half way done and environmental policy is under scrutiny and attack in Congress with each election.
The level of undermining and reevaluation seems to be a replay and reflection of the republican to democratic balance and struggle for control of the direction of the countries environmental consciousness.
The global economy and new scientific research is demanding new policy for dealing with a threatening mix of climate change, the degradation of biological diversity, and the aggressive growth of China's industrialization, India's technological renaissance, and Brazil's desire to continue to urbanize and develope natural resources. All three of these economies represented unexploited environmental capitol banked in rain forest, huge continental expanses of undeveloped habitats and biotas and in many cases unknown and yet to be discovered biologic life that may provide opportunity to nurture and heal highly impacted humanity all over the globe.
The seven billion, rapidly expanding world population continues to compete for these resources in an era that by all indications the earth needs to be protected and healed with international and national cooperative policy and strategies that well insure survivability for all of us in the long term.
This requires vigilance and proactive actions by the scientific, financial, and governmental communities like the world has never seen before. The United States has always not always assumed a proactive role in this regard but has still provided leadership in perusing beneficial policy making for one side or the other in these issues.
It always comes down to economic interests vs environmental protectionism which only polarized and adds emotional rhetoric that clouds the real issues at hand. It has historically been proven that business interests can be successfully balanced with economic interests to precipitate a mutually beneficial effect for everyone.
The missing link in this equation is always the expressed and proactive will of the people. Mao Sao Tung the last Premier of China said it all The people, and the people alone, are the motive force in the making of world history."
It is not businesses or government that manifest change in the world, it is the actions of people like YOU, individually and collectively, and as collective coalitions of groups that can make America a healthier, happier, stronger, country and change the world."
Think how the times have changed, the power of public sentiment and the majority of people that supported Rachel Carson when you see a V flight formation of Brown Pelicans skimming the surface of the Pacific.
It is a fact that without the unselfish and dedication of Rachel Carson and the publication of this one book the Brown Pelicans would have gone exstinct by 1975.
Think about it. Be challenged, engaged by the power of the internet not medicated and operated by it. Think for yourself and act on your concerns for me part of my actions involves the creation of this website and ziggysurfcatz.

March 7, 2016 The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) today announced new actions to mitigate the adverse impacts of land and water development on America’s wildlife and their habitats. A revision of the Service’s Mitigation Policy, which has guided agency recommendations to address these issues since 1981, will provide a broad and flexible framework to facilitate conservation that addresses the potential negative effects of development, while allowing economic activity to continue.
The revisions come on the heels of a recent Presidential memorandum directing certain federal agencies to adopt a common set of best practices to minimize the harmful impacts to wildlife and other ecological resources caused by land- or water-disturbing activities, and to ensure that any remaining harmful effects are appropriately addressed or mitigated.
“Effective mitigtion is a powerful tool for sustaining and recovering species and the habitats upon which they depend,” said Gary Frazer, Assistant Director for Ecological Services. “Our challenge in these times of growing pressures on native plants, animals and ecosystems is to make the most of mitigation efforts to benefit the long-term sustainability of wildlife populations on a landscape scale, while facilitating sustainable development.”
